Why This Verse Is Unique in the Entire Quran

Classical scholars highlight several never-repeated features in this ayah:

  • Allah addresses sinners as “My servants”
  • No sin is excluded
  • No condition is mentioned before forgiveness
  • Despair itself is forbidden
Ibn Kathir (رحمه الله) said:

“This is the most hopeful verse in the Book of Allah.”

Deep Linguistic & Spiritual Analysis

1. “Qul” – Say

Allah commands the Prophet ﷺ to announce this message publicly.
It is not hidden mercy. It is declared mercy.

2. “Ya Ibadi” – O My Servants

Even after sin, Allah does not disown His servants.
This single phrase destroys the idea that “I’m too far gone.”

3. “Asrafu” – Those Who Transgressed Excessively

The word includes:

  • Major sins
  • Repeated sins
  • Long-term disobedience

➡️ No sinner is excluded.

4. “La Taqnatu” – Do Not Despair

Despair is described by scholars as:

  • A whisper of Shaytan
  • A hidden form of disbelief in Allah’s mercy
